Collection: Tondos-Circular Art
Round paintings were known during the Renaissance as Tondos, which derives from the Italian 'rotondo' meaning round. Painting on a round canvas as an artist became, in some ways, a more natural way to depict a scene. As if seeing it through the minds eye. These paintings and prints provide something unique for home interiors, seeing art through a lens.
My paintings are created using local wildlife flora and fauna as inspiration and based on the four seasons. They are framed by a local framer in Delvin, Co Westmeath; "The folks who live on the hill". They are specialist framers and handcraft the circular frames for these paintings. The limited edition prints are made to fit square frames for ease of framing but keep the circular image centre stage. Each print is printed on Hahnemhule fine art paper and comes from The Copper House Gallery in Dubin, frames come from 360 DPI based in Co Wicklow.
