Bio
Kim Gaffney’s love of art began in childhood where she was constantly drawing and creating. She studied art for her Leaving Certificate and then went on to a different path and became an Occupation Therapist. Kim took up art again in 2017 when her youngest child was born. She took art classes with the well known Meath Artist Henry McGrane and never looked back. In 2022 she set up Kim Gaffney Art and developed her own website. She sells original art, limited edition prints and textiles online.
Kim had her first solo Art Exhibition, ‘Bringing Nature In’, in Oldcastle Library, Co Meath in November 2021.
In 2022 she was selected by the Cavan Arts Office to have an exhibition in The Cavan County Museum, entitled ‘The Four Seasons’.
She was awarded the Townhall scholarship in 2023 by The Cavan Arts office in conjunction with The Townhall in Co Cavan. Her 3 month residency was the beginning of her work and research into the Orwin and Sebana legend which turned into an art book and an entire collection of original paintings and prints.
Kim’s artwork has appeared in local and national newspapers and magazines. She has spoken about her artistic journey on local radio stations. In 2022 Kim appeared as a wildcard on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the year. RTE’s Nationwide have featured the artist and her work on Orwin and Sebana.
Kim lives in the countryside in Co Cavan with her husband, young family and Bernese Mountain Dog, George. She work’s with oils and her work is very much inspired by country living. She enjoys painting nature and wildlife as well as landscapes and lakes.
