Kim Gaffney, an Occupational Therapist and self-taught artist, primarily works with oils. She sells original art, limited edition prints, and textiles online, blending contemporary and traditional styles.

Living in Co Cavan's countryside with her husband, children, and Bernese Mountain Dog, Kim draws inspiration from rural life. She paints nature, wildlife, landscapes, and lakes.

Kim held three solo exhibitions in Cavan and Meath in 2021, 2022, and 2023. She received the Townhall scholarship from The Cavan Arts Office in 2023, which facilitated the start of her work and research into the Orwin and Sebana legend. Kim then created and published her debut art book ‘Orwin and Sebana’ with the support of a Creative Cavan grant.

Kim’s work has been shared in local and national media, magazines and press. She has spoken about  her experience in becoming an artist and unearthing a nearly lost Cavan legend, on RTE’s Nationwide and on RTE Radio One.

Most recently Kim was selected by Creative Cavan under Creative Ireland for a commissioned painting to use as the symbol for a cross-border project ‘The Art of Life’. This 2 year project aims to use creativity to enable and normalise conversations around death and dying an planning for end of life in the community. Kim will continue to facilitate creative workshops in the community as part of this project.

Kim has exhibited at the Dublin Horse Show on two previous occasions and will have a stand in the arts hall again this year, displaying her equine and wildlife art.
