The Flight- Original Oil on Canvas

There is a moment on Lough Sheelin when silence is broken only by the thunderous beat of swans' wings as they rise from the water. Witnessing that extraordinary sound and presence became the inspiration for this painting. Three swans emerge from the morning mist; two take flight into the pale sky while one lingers on the lake, grounded in the stillness they leave behind.

Part of my Croí na Coille collection, this painting is an expression of Ireland's wild heart. It speaks of the fleeting moments that define our connection with nature—those encounters that stop us in our tracks and remind us of the beauty that surrounds us. Rooted in the landscape of County Cavan, it celebrates not only the grace of these magnificent birds but also the sense of place, memory and belonging that runs throughout the collection.
