Collection: Orwin and Sebana

The legend of Orwin and Sebana is set in Lough Sheelin Co Cavan in the 1600's. It is a story that has nearly been forgotten and I have spent the year creating art and an artbook to reawaken this legend to share it far and wide. The legend is set in the time of the Cromwellian war. It is a story about the resilience of love though both were on opposite sides of the conflict. Orwin, the son of an Irish Chief was hiding out in Crover Castle after being injured in the battle against Cromwell and Sebana, the daughter of The Black Baron who followed English rule, lived in the beautiful Ross Castle on the other side of the lake. The story tells how they met and fell in love. They soon realised they would have to keep their union secret. Then a fever drove Sebana to remain in her tower room while Orwin feared she had forgotten him. He died of a broken heart and his ghost asked her to bury him near Ross Castle and she soon joined him in his grave.
